A U.S.based company that is developing a world-class platform that enables users to gain access to customizable learning solutions, is looking for a Staff Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for creating software that is scalable, redundant, and capable of seamless recovery. The company's platform is providing top-tier tutoring services and dynamic learning solutions. The company has managed to secure more than $105mn during its Series C round of funding. This position requires at least 6 hours of overlap with the EST/PST time zone.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead an engineering team that is diverse, inclusive, and committed to consistently delighting customers
- Strong ownership qualities, growth mentality, and willingness to put in the work
- Implement consumer-facing solutions that address the demands of the customers
- Own scalable services that support our expanding learning platform
- When deploying to AWS, use CI/CD with the appropriate logging, monitoring, and alerting
- Become a mentor, a thought leader, and a champion of best practices
- Work closely with data science and product team members
**Job Requirements**:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience as a staff engineer
- Demonstrable experience working with Python, AI, AWS, and Golang
- Solid familiarity with deployment tools like CodeShip and AWS CodeDeploy is a good choice.
- Comprehensive understanding of CSS frameworks, React, TypeScript, and modern front-end technologies
- Strong familiarity with the AWS infrastructure, including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Batch, CloudWatch, Kinesis, etc.
- Nice to be more familiar before deploying e-commerce solutions
- Ability to pick up new languages and technologies fast when required
- Nice to have some experience with programming, functional, object-oriented, design patterns, Big O, and data structures
- In-depth knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture, including contextual boundaries and communication between services, is desirable
- Familiarity with Machine Learning systems like batch and real-time machine learning systems is nice to have
- A solid understanding of configuration tooling like Terraform and AWS Cloud formation is preferred
- Nice to have some experience with Data Security, including secure coding, data protection and classification, and PCI/HIPAA/GDPR
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
