CloudPay is towards the end of migrating its data centre hosted services to AWS and is in the early stages of formulating its public cloud tech strategy to keep scaling and make best use of the technology now at its disposal. With a company growing at 30% for 5 years straight, we find ourselves at an inflexion point in our technology stacks and IT organizational structure. CloudPay's engineering teams build very sophisticated software using open-source technologies with the majority being in Java. We now operate in AWS and are closing out our DC usage. Our systems engineers play a crucial role in the design, building and maintenance of all our software and services.
**Daily Responsibilities**:
- Provision and maintain secure cloud infrastructure
- Partner with scrum teams to deliver software releases
- Build and manage secure automated systems
- Maintain complete and comprehensive documentation
- Manage logging, monitoring and alerting systems
- Support incidents as they occur and work with teams on preventing future incidents
- Work closely with engineers across all teams in different parts of the world
**Attributes and Experience Required**:
- 3+ years in a similar role
- Good documentation and communications skills
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working with agile teams
- Keen sense of ownership and drive, delivering on what you and your team have agreed on
- GitOps and ITIL
- IT security; GDPR, encryption at-rest/in-transit, patching, least-privilege
- Networking; VPNs, Transit Gateways, routing, DNS, firewalls
- A good understanding of the following concepts and standard practices:
- Experience working with complex and, sometimes, tightly coupled systems
- Strong experience with the following technology:
- BASH
- Puppet and Foreman
- Rundeck
- Terraform and AWS
- Containerisation and microservice architecture
- Working with data in databases, such as MySQL and MongoDB
