We're searching for a Software Engineer III. SmileDirectClub is seeking a Software Engineer III to join a fast-paced and dynamic engineering team tasked with turning a large monolith into a suite of domain-driven microservices. We are building versatile microservices that cater to every facet of the SmileDirectClub business. In joining SmileDirectClub, you will be part of a team that values high performance, open communication, and collaboration.
**Responsibilities**:
- Contribute to a culture of creativity, innovation, collaboration, and excellence in all areas of engineering and technology
- Establish and follow coding standards and best practices for microservice development
- Collaborate with a team of architects working on multiple diverse projects
- Build technical proof of concepts for emerging requirements
- Convert technical proofs into working software in a clear and concise fashion
- Analyze and optimize inefficiencies in existing systems
- Identify and implement enterprise-level best practices regarding distributed architecture and persistence at scale
- Participate in regular Agile ceremonies as an invested and multifaceted participant in the SDLC
- Advise on or contribute to test automation as needed
- Mentor junior developers as needed and foster a deeply collaborative culture
Qualifications:
- Degree, high school education, or any licenses required to obtain the position.
- 2 years of equivalent work experience Clear and concise communication skills

- .NET Core and/or exposure to and experience with one additional open-source stack
- Cloud experience, preferably in Amazon Web Services or Azure
- Experience with Test-Driven Development and Domain-Driven Design
- Understanding of SDLC and Agile development methodologies
- Experience with Git, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery mechanisms
- RDBMS experience, e.g., Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle
- Experience with a modern JavaScript framework, e.g., React or Vue
