**Role Title**: Principal Network Engineer**
**Business Unit**: IT Services**
**Role Purpose**:
- Provide consultancy in the Telecoms area to other ITS teams and BUs under governance of Global Production Sourcing, Infrastructure Architecture and Infrastructure Product Management teams.
- To provide technical and implementation support for the deployment of Telecommunications Services (network), to support business initiatives both at Global and Regional level.
- To provide internal and external ITS customers with advice and design solutions for their telecommunications needs
- To manage the implementation of these solutions to ensure that they meet both their business requirements (whether in terms of cost, reliability, performance etc) and align with DP DHL standards and strategies.
- To advise and support any area associated with the support and maintenance and effective use of telecommunication systems and their environments.
- To support the Telecom team, in the in the delivery of properly engineered telecommunication services, including the management of change and the maintenance of professional standards in the area of Network communications and related services.
**Responsibilities**:
Provides project support, technical consultancy and implementation planning for the successful deployment of new infrastructure technologies to internal/external DPDHL customers.
To design cost-effective network infrastructure services that provide the adequate telecom services to support the electronic interchange of data between DPDHL and internal/external customers.
- Implement a highly available Telecoms infrastructure that meets or exceeds agreed service levels
- To provide technical support to aid the resolution of problems and instant escalations by implementing emergency resolutions/fixes that are appropriately documented
- Support internal partners in delivering end to end services to the Business IT and Business users
- Establish working relationship with business partners.
- To design and document network solutions that adhere to DP DHL policies and standards
- Provide next level support on a consultancy basis to other teams within Data Centre Network Services
- Execute the Capacity Management process in the multi-vendor environment.
- Work with other teams within Data Centre Network Services groups to ensure network telecommunications services are maintained to support the network customer base
- Liaise with other teams within Data Centre Network Services to ensure all project related tasks and activities are performed on time and expected quality.
**Qualifications**:
- 5+ years experience in a technical/consultancy role with very strong technical skills.
- IT related university degree.
- Customer orientation with great communication skills.
- Very good knowledge of network switching and routing technologies and standards.
- Very good knowledge of at least one of the following technologies - Wireless LAN, IP Telephony, Toll Bypass, Video Conferencing, Network Optimization.
- Good TCIP/IP knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and under time and workload pressure.
- Capable to perform cost-benefit analysis and generate business cases and investment proposals.
- Broad understanding of the international telecommunication industry, in terms of service providers in the region and globally.
- Detailed experience in IT/telecommunications infrastructure field
