PURPOSE OF JOB The Molding Engineer is in charge of developing, maintaining, and optimizing all injection molding processes.Interacts with all departments to ensure the proper execution of all qualification activities.Supports production activities by analyzing and following up machine performance, scrap data, tooling wear, among others, also by mentoring and training process, molding technicians, and molding operators in daily activities. RESPONSIBILITIES Develops robust and consistent molding processes using scientific molding techniques Proposes and implements modifications to molds, equipment and processes focused on increasing productivity and maximize efficiency.Troubleshoots molding, manufacturing processes and material issues.Works with internal and external resources to resolve molding and manufacturing issues and implement long term solutions.Researches, develops and implements manufacturing process controls, machinery modifications and improvements.Creates/modifies molding instructions to ensure production standardization.Provides input on new or alternate materials for cost reduction or molding improvements.Provides technical assistance and support to the production floor in resolving problems, using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis which include repair and modification of existing tooling and processes Participates in root-cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts related to product and/or tooling issues; provides technical input and support as required.Evaluates tooling wear.Minimizes mold change times by applying SMED techniques.Monitors molding rejects to adjust molding parameters to maintain the highest yield and proposes tooling change based on failure modes.Keeps inventory of tooling to determine reorder points.Consistently generates improvement proposals based on data analysis of daily results.Works hand in hand with molding operators to improve production results.Gives feedback and training to molding technicians.Has a two-way communication with molding equipment maintenance team to understand and follow up on mold status and performance.REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION : Bachelor in Engineering or Manufacturing EXPERIENCE : Minimum 3-5 years in an industrial/manufacturing industry supporting molding processes, preferable within a medical device manufacturing environment.Support injection molding processes from process development, validation to manufacturing (required).Experience supporting cold runner molding processes (required).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience with GMP and ISO 13485 a plus.Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.POSITION SKILLS : Professional fluency in English is required (C1), both written and oral.Able to work effectively in a team.Good communication skills.Computer skills.Project planning and execution.Excellent communication skills including written and verbal reporting.Must be a self-starter, able to work with no supervision.Able to work effectively in a team Powered by JazzHR
