ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Wind River Systems is seeking an efficient Manager of Engineering for a newly created position developing a framework spanning from the device to the cloud for DevSecOps verification and validation.
This includes Platforms, Tools, and Web Interfaces.
We're creating a critical system to speed the development of cloud and embedded connected intelligent systems.
Just a few examples could be autonomous cars, warehouse robots, or even drones.
**Responsibilities**
- Managing a team of engineers, contributing to ongoing releases of Wind Rivers Products including career planning, goal setting, performance assessment, coaching, performance improvement, compensation, conflict resolution, and other people management tasks
- Collaborate proactively across product engineering to help define harmonized testing procedures and pipelines
- Lead overall product quality process and direction of testing
- Collaborate with peers, to foster quality discipline within all the product engineering teams
- Support and enablement of the unit and feature testing within the product development teams
- Responsible for the regression, integration, performance, and system testing within the transversal verification and validation teams
- Work to reduce complexity and improve the maintainability of our testing and automation framework
- Influence others and represent technical insight to customers and other engineers
- Support and encourage solid engineering processes (e.g., Agile, Lean, TDD, kanban, scrum, etc.)
- Working with a team of developers and program managers and/or directors to coordinate work and assure delivery of projects and products
- Process development and implementation for the direct team/s and department.
- Contributing to budget allocation and monitoring
- Mentor others and provide cross-team input
- Interfacing with various other parts of the company such as Services, Support, Engineering Operations, and Product Management

- Experience contributing to open-source projects and leading in the open-source community
- The ability to be an effective member of a team of directors and managers including: a drive to accomplish the collective goals of the team; the ability to fairly and effectively negotiate; and an attitude that puts the good of the team ahead of one's individual needs when required
- Experience in people management including career planning; performance assessments; performance improvement; setting and evaluating goals; compensation; and general care of development engineers.
- Agile, Lean, and Scrum evangelist and transformation agent

**Qualifications**:

- 7+ years of relevant software verification and validation experience.
Experience in DevOps methodologies and such cloud and opensource technologies as AWS, LogStash, Kubernetes, Istio, Harbor, and Minio
- 5+ years of people/project management as part of a larger team with interdependent responsibilities in an engineering environment
- Relevant technical BS, Engineering, or computer science degree
- Business/management degree or coursework desirable.
