Join Western Union as a Vice President (VP) of Risk and Controls & Costa Rica Site Leader.Western Union powers your pursuit.This key executive will oversee and manage the risk strategy related to customer transactions, funds in and payment exceptions, as well as global credit and collections processes.
The Vice President will ensure the company's financial operations are aligned with regulatory standards, internal controls, and risk management best practices.Role ResponsibilitiesRisk Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of risk management strategies for all areas related to customer transactions, funds inflows, payment exceptions, and global credit and collections.
Customer Risk Management: Oversee risk assessments related to customer onboarding, transactions, and account activity to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Funds In and Payment Exceptions: Monitor and mitigate risks related to funds in, payment processing, and payment exceptions, ensuring appropriate controls are implemented to detect and prevent fraud or financial discrepancies.
Global Credit and Collections: Lead the global credit risk management execution framework, ensuring efficient and effective credit decisioning, debt collections, and bad debt management across diverse markets.
Site Leadership:Acts as a matrix leader to the local senior leadership team and local site, drives the leadership and organizational culture based on the Company's Values and Behaviors.
Acts as a liaison between the executive leadership of Western Union and the local organization.Represents the voice of the CEO and the Executive Team and drives the implementation of strategic decisions.Carries the ultimate responsibility for the Company's compliance and adherence to all relevant local laws and regulations.
Responsible for Site level policies and procedures, business continuity and crisis management plans.Role RequirementsMinimum 10 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, or finance.At least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing global operations.Strong understanding of financial regulations, risk management frameworks, credit analysis, payment systems, and controls related to financial transactions.
Familiarity with global credit and collections practices.
Collaborative and able to build relationships across diverse cultures and geographies.Innovative mindset with a focus on improving processes and driving efficiencies.Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CRISC, FRM, or CFA) is a plus.
