**Senior Technical Program Manager - MA&MBG, Tanzu Common Core's Developer Foundation**
**The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?
**
Do you love helping individuals, teams, and programs reach their full potential?
Do you count learning, communication group dynamics, decision making, team-focused leadership, and coaching as some of your professional passions?
Then this may be the role for you.
VMware's Modern Applications & Management Business Group (MA&MBG) is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to join us in building the Tanzu portfolio and transforming how the world deploys and scales software.
As a founding member of the Tanzu Common Core TPM team, you will help establish and drive its culture and principles as we work across our engineering teams to be the "glue" that facilitates the flow of features, solutions, data-driven insights, and processes that focus on building and maintaining confidence in the Tanzu portfolio.
**Success in the Role**: What are the performance goals over the first 3-6 months you will work toward completing?
As a TPM, you will collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership teams across MA&MBG with a focus on the Tanzu Common Core domain that encompasses geo-distributed teams spanning across product, data analysis and insights, enablement, platform services and infrastructure, and development teams.
- Build trust with your assigned team(s) or program(s) to understand their needs; collaborate with the TPM Manager to build and execute on quarterly-focused plans that define, establish, and maintain consistent, traceable processes around program progression and decision-making across a varying landscape of stakeholders
- Create reports and dashboards that detail program health including relative metrics (such as incident and escalation management data), project execution, and team health
- Drive the management of cross-functional leadership teams; facilitating, coordinating and leading cross-functional teams to complete a variety of technical program plans, tasks, and milestones
- Maintain healthy relationships within TCC's geo-distributed teams and build partnerships across teams within MA&MBG and the broader VMware organization
**What type of work will you be doing?
What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
**
Depending on the team(s) or program(s) you will collaborate with, you can expect to:
- Manage technical programs, projects and initiatives affecting area goals and objectives
- Be able to keep short-term, tactical details of an objective in focus, clearly visible to teams and stakeholders, and under control.
At the same time, work towards the long-term goal of building sustainable and scalable systems and processes.
- Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions, such as traceable decision-making, escalation management and feedback loops
- Build mechanisms that allow programs to understand their progress towards near and long-term goals and illuminate paths to get there; enable programs to connect those goals to overall Business Group and VMware Objectives, maintaining alignment within the overall roadmap
- Partner with PMs to gather and help breakdown requirements into smaller, more actionable pieces of work
- Maintain an awareness of industry trends, business conditions and internal processes and practices to influence the success of programs and initiatives
- As the program landscape changes, ensure transitions are healthy and resilient
- Provide feedback and coaching to teams and leadership within SaaS Foundation and supporting a culture of continuous improvement and learning
- Be comfortable navigating uncertainty and creating new paths
- Have demonstrated ability to learn and understand technical concepts and the purpose of your assigned program; build a successful partnership that allows you to have a seat at the table around technical direction, vision and/or strategy
- Understanding of container-orchestration is a plus but not required
