The Tax Manager provides full leadership and supervisory responsibility. Provides operational/service leadership and direction to team(s). Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services. May contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Generally has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results and shared responsibility for planning and budgets. Work affects an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family. Full supervisory responsibility, ensuring motivation and development of team through professional leadership to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations as well as direction of daily tasks and responsibilities.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with clients, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
- Contributes to the planning, accounting, filing and the reporting of tax liability of the company.
- Assists in determining and compiling information required to satisfy income tax filing and related requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
- May participate in managing payments to tax authorities in compliance with specific tax regulations.
- Manages professional team(s) and department(s).
- Integrates expertise and industry expertise within a defined area.
- Advises on standards around which others will operate.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of how areas harmoniously integrate within the sub-function.
- Coordinates and contributes to the goals of the entire function.
- Uses communication and diplomacy skills to guide and influence others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasionally external customers.
- Manages a small team, or function as a single incumbent with management responsibilities for a function.
- Perform other duties and functions as assigned
**Qualifications**:
- 5-8+ years of experience
**Education**:
- Bachelors degree
**Key responsibilities**:
- Preparation and filing of tax returns and payments including income and non-income taxes, VAT, withholding taxes, and related accounting matters (provision, current and deferred, account reconciliation interacting with e-Recon, tax rate analysis, etc.) for countries covered by the LATAM Tax Centralization Unit (TCU) following Risk and Controls Guidelines.
- Monthly current and deferred tax liability calculation, basing on data provided by Finance and its verification, journal posting.
- Reconciliation of the tax balances on the ledger & effective tax rate analysis.
- Tax reporting for internal purposes.
- Current Income tax provisions calculation
- Interaction with different stakeholders in the related countries
**Qualifications**:
- Graduate degree in finance, law, public accounting, or directly related field and/or Tax specialization degree.
- Previous Tax Compliance experience related to one or some of the following LATAM countries: Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panamá, Dominican Republic, Perú and Ecuador.
- Preferable to have work experience inUS multinationals.
- Very good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
- Advanced English skills.
