The Statutory Accountant is responsible for overseeing all local statutory activities within the Costa Rican market.
This role serves as the primary liaison between PROCOMER, the Tax Administration, and external auditors, ensuring the accurate and timely submission of required information.
Additionally, the accountant provides support to the LATAM Tax Director by gathering and validating financial data necessary for local tax compliance.
A strong understanding of Costa Rican tax regulations is essential for this position.The role will serve as the primary liaison with Manufacturing and GBS to ensure the correct and timely handling of information related to FTZ regulation.This position is a P3 levelWhat will you be doing?FTZ Compliance:Manage and ensure the proper preparation and submission of all documents required for PROCOMER filings, audits, and other related governmental entities.Monthly presentation of data, for the generation of the Canon invoice (Procomer) to be paid.Financial Data Management:Upload accounting information from SAP to Soft-land in local currency (Colones), ensuring accurate data transfer in compliance with local regulations.Reconcile financial information to maintain accuracy and integrity.Tax Compliance Support:Assist the LATAM Tax Director in gathering and validating financial information required for local tax obligations.Responsible to submit the information to external advisor´s necessary for the preparation of the monthly VAT obligations and annual CIT filings.Coordinate and provide financial data necessary for the preparation of tax requirements to the LATAM Tax Director and tax advisors.Prepare and present transfer pricing information to the Transfer Pricing Group.Utilize a strong understanding of Costa Rican tax regulations to identify and correct discrepancies in data provided for tax return preparation.This role will serve as the primary point of contact between the business and Tax Authorities, supporting with the gathering and monitoring of information, activities, etc.
during Tax Audits / Information requests.Internal Controls and Reporting:Support the Local Comptroller with monthly MAPs review, follow-up, and timely closure of controls.Assist in the review of monthly financial figures to ensure timely and accurate corporate reporting.What will you need to be successful?
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting or tax compliance roles.Languages: Fluency in Spanish; proficiency in English is a plus.Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Costa Rican tax laws and regulations.Strong knowledge of FTZ regulations.Competences: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of local tax compliance and financial reporting.You.
