Job Summary:
The Senior Database Administrator is responsible to implement and manage the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Azure Data Services or AWS Database Services, this also include performance of critical SQL Server systems and the backups.
Their main goal is to ensure the availability and consistent performance.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for designing and defining operating runbooks
- Administer databases regarding to efficiency, security and systems integrity.
- Monitor system's health and performance.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability.
- Ensure that all database backup schedules are implemented and monitored for issues.
- Test database recovery procedures periodically.
- Optimize query performance through TSQL improvements, indexes, partitioning etc.
- Optimize use of operational resources.
- Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
- Manage complex technical problems.
- Overseeing the compliance of Auxis operating processes.
- Maintain technical expertise in MS SQL technologies.
- Act in a mentoring capacity to other team members.
- Make recommendation on performance improvement and automation that can improve operations.
Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years' experience in large-scale MS SQL Server environments, supporting several clients.
- Desirable 2 years' experience of Azure SQL Database and/or AWS RDS and/or MS Dataverse.
- Experienced in Clustering Services, High Availability and Always - On configurations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer Science, Engineering, IT bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience
- English Level B2+
- Azure Data Fundamentals Certified.
- Excellent understanding of Azure SQL with proven experience with performance monitoring, analysis, and tuning of relational databases.
This includes the use of T-SQL, Query Store, hints, Dynamic Management Views, Azure Monitor SQL Insights, indexes, statistics, query plan analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of database backup and recovery.
- Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding, clustering, replication.
- Proven experience with cloud-based Services.
- Experience in shared operations and heterogenous environments.
- Knowledge in ITIL
- Participate in 24x7 on call support rotation
Desired Technical Proficiencies:
- Azure Database Administrator Associate.
- Azure Data Engineer Associate.
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty.
