ROLE SUMMARY
The Digital Hosting Solutions (DHS) team represents the Digital Center of Excellence (CoE) for cloud infrastructure delivery capabilities, providing foundational public and private cloud services to all business lines, globally across Pfizer. DHS is a high-performing team, focused on delivering secure, scalable, compliant, operationally viable, and cost-effective cloud and On-premises datacenter solutions.
The Sr. Associate Software Engineering role will work closely with the DHS Cloud Engineering & Product Owners to develop code-based approaches to Cloud Delivery of resources, along with the necessary automation for provisioning/allocation and ongoing management of infrastructure-as-code resources with configuration management. The individual will become an expert in Pfizer's Infrastructure Delivery Lifecycle (IDLC) process and will play a key role in the verification of new cloud resources provisioned and configured via automation released to predominantly hyperscaler vendors (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). A small percentage of On-Premises Datacenter provisioning would be still required for legacy vSphere based VMs.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sr. Associate Software Engineer must operate with the highest levels of integrity, as colleagues within DHS are often entrusted with high levels of access to cloud-based production and development environments. The ability to protect confidential information, identify risk conditions, alert on situations of non-compliance, and operate within defined policies & procedures is a must.
- Develop & engineer new cloud provisioning and configuration management solutions following Pfizer's Infrastructure Delivery Lifecycle (IDLC) process.
- Work directly with peer infrastructure practice teams to ensure proper management of solutions integrated with provisioning, including creation and maintenance of API's, event triggers, alerts, drift control policies, and reporting.
- Participation in daily Agile standups: Provide regular updates on work in progress; Identify and escalate issues & risks that may result in delays or design flaws; Develop metrics reports for leadership consumption.
- Create and maintain cloud-specific documentation in the DHS Confluence site. Utilize Jira to maintain status on tasks and sprints in flight.
- Provide engineering/development support for continuous improvement-oriented requirements generated by Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams
- Participate in cloud security events including purple (proactive) and red (reactive) teams to identify, report, and resolve risk and/or issue conditions.
- Support periodic corporate and Digital audit requests.
- Work collaboratively with external parties including cloud suppliers (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and Pfizer DHS strategic suppliers (e.g. TCS) as part of a larger development team.
- Commit to ongoing learning and professional development.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of cloud-specific experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and/or vSphere is required.
- 1-2 years of software development experience utilizing Python, PowerShell to develop automation, APIs and microservices deployments is required.
- Hands on programmingskills utilizing some/all of the following: Python, Java,.NET (C#), Node.js or C/C+.
- Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g. Github Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline, CodeBuild)
- Hands on familiarity with AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Terraform & Ansible.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively document software designs and communicate implementation details.
- Comfortable with Windows and Linux operating systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintaining confidentiality of investigation information.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and constraints.
- Ability to use creative thinking and advanced problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Cloud certifications, particularly in AWS (Foundational, Associate or Professional) are highly desired.
- Familiarity and/or previous experience with Agile (e.g. Scrum) is desired.
- AI Development Integration desired for future optimization.
- Working knowledge of Confluence and Jira is desired.
