- Understand business and functional requirements as basis of test design
- Review the requirements for testability and provide feedback
- Deliver high level test approach considering risks, benefits, and value
- Create individual test cases which trace to requirements
- Drive effectiveness by recommending test automation opportunities
- Create or leverage test automation solutions
- Test Execution
- Execute manual and automated test cases
- Perform exploratory system testing to discover unforeseen use cases and risks
- Log and manage incidents
- Document and report test results to stakeholders and provide input for go/no-go decision
- Test Planning and Management
- Define and document scope of testing, roles/responsibilities, schedule, dependencies, environment details, entry and exit criteria
- Define, manage and communicate test process
- Actively manages Scope/Time/Resources
- Delegate testing tasks
- Monitor and report progress and results
- Testing Tool Support and Technical Acumen
- Provide technical solutions that support testing activities (test management, test reporting, test execution, production quality monitoring)
- Understand test automation capabilities and automation tools
- Test Approach
- Test cases execution (who and when)
- Defect management process
- Decision on testing phase to begin (readiness)
- Sign off on testing completion and results

- Propose the test scope based on risk and value
- Sign off on Requirements based on acceptability/testability
- Gives input for decisions on projects schedule and resourcing
- Gives input for go/no go decision for Go-live
