As a Senior Software Developer, you'll be part of a passionate team working on IBM's flagship product QRadar.
Our QRadar product is a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Intelligence and Event Management (SIEM).
We are looking for an experienced and passionate hands-on developer who will join our core QRadar development team and deliver key product enhancements for our customers.
**Your Role and Responsibilities**
- Take ownership of the Data Storage Layer within QRadar and become our SME.
- Design new, and enhance existing key product features.
- Collaborate with the broader engineering team to deliver best in class solutions.
- Work with Product Management on defining requirements and providing delivery estimates.
- Work with customers and the support team on storage layer related issues when required.
**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
- 8+ years coding highly concurrent, horizontally scalable data processing pipelines.
- 2+ years architecting and designing large scale, highly available, low latency systems.
- 5+ years coding Enterprise grade server software written in Java.
- 2+ years development experience with scripting languages like Python, Perl, Bash.
- Extensive experience debugging highly concurrent, distributed systems.
- Extensive experience profiling Java (e.g., Memory, CPU, Threading, Locking)
- Solid understanding of SQL (As a user/developer).
- Highly Effective working in an Agile Development Environment.
- English Fluent (verbal and written).
**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**
- Experience with data systems capable of reliably ingesting and storing 1 million events per second.
- Experience with data systems capable of searching on petabytes of data, returning results in sub second.
Search can be analytical, or needle in the haystack style.
- Experience developing core database features in proprietary, or open platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, MySQL, BerkleyDB, Cassandra).
- Experience building custom indexing solutions with Lucene API (Not Elastic, or Solr).
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of Linux kernel capabilities for development of large-scale systems (Tuning).
