Position Purpose: Designs and maintains the most complex physical data base structures supporting a shareable base of corporate information and ensuring that corporate data is effectively implemented. Provides technical leadership for moderate-sized business efforts. Responsible for development and adherence to database environment standards. Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of database management, under limited supervision.

- Create, develop and review physical database model from the logical model of large size databases and complex systems; ensure design complies with standards, guidelines and procedures; research and analyze the impact of proposed changes and additions to the installed databases.-
- Ability to help set processes for best practices and documentation.-
- Instrumental in developing DBMS environment standards and procedures.-
- Provide data modeling guidance.-
- Provide technical leadership for moderate-sized business efforts.-
- Maintain and disseminate knowledge of DBMS software capabilities.-
- Provide active and continuous support for Application Development teams: attend design and code walk-thrus, ensure DBMS coding standards are enforced, provide innovative solutions.-
- Proactively monitor performance and tune the database; identify problems in code or database design and oversee resolution.-
- Design backup/recovery environment and procedures.-
- Reorganize database structures as needed.-
- Support and implement new releases of DBMS software; implement new features where appropriate.-
- Work with Application Development teams on complex, interrelated systems designs using the most complex technologies.- About you:
- Years of Experience: 5+
- Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced, broad knowledge of Oracle and DB2 LUW DBMS's.-
- Advanced knowledge of data/database administration concepts and trends.-
- Familiarity with DBMS architecture; ability to provide consultation to database architects.-
- Knowledge of L.L. Bean as a company.-
- Understanding of vulnerability management and best practices.-
- Understanding of Service Level Agreements and how to manage 24 x 7 databases.-
- Advanced knowledge and experience of backup and restore best practices and implementation. Commvault knowledge is a plus.-
- Advanced skills in the technical platforms specific to L.L.Bean - Oracle, IBM DB2 LUW, and Linux OS.-
- Advanced use of DBA tools such as Enterprise Manager, Toad, and Spotlight (and/or others).-
- Experienced in large, complex database design with many tables, inputs, outputs, and users.-
- Experienced in IBM DB2 LUW Data Partitioning Facility (DPF) and Tivoli System Automation (TSA).-
- Experience in Upgrading and patching Database versions, DB2 and Oracle.-
- Experienced SQL skills including use and optimization techniques.-
- Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting database errors and performance issues.-
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to promote ideas, advocate for change and resolve issues across teams and technologies.-
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team to share ideas and concepts.-
