**Main Purpose of the job**: The Senior Buyer supports the strategic and tactical procurement of goods and services for Viant Medical. The Senior Buyer will be involved in management of key suppliers and supply relationships, supports implementation of Viant global supply programs, and will support the continuous development of Procurement processes. The Senior Buyer role may be customer facing and can work in cooperation with our customers on complex supplier programs, including price and supply negotiations. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will act as a mentor to other members of the Procurement team. Clear communication will be a hallmark of the Senior Buyer role both to suppliers, Viant team members, and Customers.
**Main job Responsibilities**:
- Follows all GMP and SOP's as defined by Viant Medical policies, practices and procedures to insure that FDA and ISO regulations and quality standards are met
- Responsible for purchasing the best quality raw materials, components and production supplies at the lowest cost, according to established policies, practices and procedures, and ensuring delivery in a timely manner to support production schedules
- Follow Viant's price increase negotiation strategies to push back on supplier price increases
- Maintain the PPV log tool updated with all corresponding unfavorable PPV impacts
- Maintains assigned raw materials, components and supplies at required inventory levels, use Viant's Purchase Authorization Approval form to extend liability when required Responsible for ensuring purchases meet quality and quantity requirements according to specifications, reporting discrepancies to the Operations team and, resolving discrepancies with suppliers
- Processes, reviews and confirms all requisitions for assigned raw material, indirect products, or services are converted into POs through the ERP system
- Confirms with suppliers accuracy and acceptance of PO information and updates as required
- Reviews daily open order report and takes appropriate action
- Manage PO dates properly, maintaining accurate promise date for OTD information
- Responsible for expediting, following up or extending deliveries of all open purchase orders to insure timeliness with production schedules, while proactively ensuring timely ordering
- Manages return authorization requests and negotiates credit, reworks or replacements
- Responsible for purchase order accuracy regarding billed price and quantity; reconciles invoice discrepancies and helps resolve AP related issues as needed
- Provides forecasted information to suppliers and stays informed on supplier's capacity constraints
- Responsible for maintaining strong supplier relationships; meets with vendors as necessary regarding capabilities, price quotes or production problems
- Participates in the process development of alternate suppliers
- Participates in the Supplier Performance scoring process
- Leads and participates within functional projects as required
- Partners with internal customers to identify, organize, prioritize and execute projects to meet global supply chain initiatives
- Uses data driven analysis methods to identify root cause problem areas and leads corrective action
- Trains, mentors, and assists Buyers with job related questions and issues
- Participation in corporate Sourcing initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert and site leader for program implementation
- Performs other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
**Knowledge/Education**:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Operations Management or related field preferred
- APICS Certification preferred, but not required
**Job experience**:
- 5-7 years of experience in a buying/purchasing function or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in medical device industry highly desirable

**Physical Requirements**:
- Typical office environment: long periods of sitting, standing, using hands to perform computer work
