ROLE SUMMARY
The Digital Hosting Solutions (DHS) team represents the Digital Center of Excellence (CoE) for cloud infrastructure capabilities, providing foundational public and private cloud services to all business lines, globally across Pfizer. DHS is a high-performing team, focused on delivering secure, scalable, compliant, operationally viable, and cost-effective cloud solutions. As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and management of our cloud infrastructure. Leveraging your extensive knowledge and experience in cloud technologies, you will ensure the scalability, security, and efficiency of our cloud operations. You will collaborate with various teams to understand their needs and translate them into effective cloud solutions. Your role will involve making key decisions about the use of cloud technologies, troubleshooting complex issues, and continuously optimizing our cloud environment. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving our cloud strategy and enabling the successful execution of our cloud initiatives.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Pfizer Engineers must operate with the highest levels of integrity, as colleagues within DHS are often entrusted with the highest levels of access to development and production environments. The ability to protect confidential information, identify risks, mitigate non-compliance, and operate within defined policies & procedures is a must.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, develop, and manage the company's cloud infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, security, and efficiency.
- Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoot complex issues related to the cloud infrastructure and implement effective solutions using IaC principles.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various teams to understand their needs and translate them into effective cloud solutions.
- Cloud Strategy: Contribute to the development and execution of the company's cloud strategy, making key decisions about the use of cloud technologies.
- Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the cloud environment, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge and best practices with other team members, helping to enhance their understanding and use of cloud technologies.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in cloud technologies and trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on cloud technologies.
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including the deployment and management of cloud resources using IaC.
- Experience with cloud architecture, including designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in cloud technologies from providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience in a regulated industry, with a strong understanding of compliance requirements related to cloud computing.
- Prior experience in leading or mentoring a team of software engineers.
