The Senior Accountant will join a dynamic controllership team supporting Moody's external reporting function.
The position will focus heavily on SEC reporting (Form 10-K/Form 10-Q) and will be a key player in enabling technology in the group via various automation/operational improvement initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead transformation and technology enablement initiatives that impact the external reporting function, mainly through process automation, including the use of Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools such as Alteryx and data visualization tools such as Power BI
- Assist in preparation of accurate and timely filing of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings (including XBRL reporting)
- Participate in finance-wide initiative to modernize internal controls to achieve a "outstanding" and automated control environment.
- Assist in preparation of the monthly and quarterly senior management and BOD reporting packages.
- Assist with monthly accounting for stock-based compensation.
- Work closely with Investor Relations team on quarterly earnings-related materials
- Preparation of U.S. statutory reporting (e.g., ERISA and Captive Insurance financial statements)
- Assist with various other ad hoc projects.
- Degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of 3 years of experience
- "Go-getter" mentality - someone who takes initiative, is willing to invest time in learning new systems/processes, and is very detail oriented
- CPA or country equivalent accountancy license acquired (or in progress) preferred
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic thinker/ability to effectuate relevant change/efficiencies
