We are currently looking for a Data Engineer who will be responsible for timely and quality delivery of analytic data services as part of the Experian Global Security Office. Their work will focus on the development, automation and build out of transformation routines in support of our Security Metrics & Reporting function who deliver security analytics to our internal business.
Functions
- Understand sources, characteristics, and uses of the organization's data assets to facilitate their use in security metrics and reporting.
- Design and run extract, transform, load (ETL) processes to bring in data from security tooling and other corporate data sources into a standardized and normalized data structure using a variety of tools such as Python, Alteryx, AWS Glue, SQL or other data management functions.
- Create tables, relationships, and views according to schema standards.
- Write transformation procedures and data quality validation steps to programmatically enhance and correct ingested data.
- Build, design and optimize data pipelines, data warehouses and reporting frameworks
- Use query languages such as SQL (structured query language) to efficiently provide information for security metrics and reporting.
- Ability to learn and develop focused on identifying automation opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Provide insight on development routines and data functions to ensure improvements are identified and built into the SDLC process.
- Basic understanding of data infrastructure requirements and data formats (e.g. JSON, XML and CSV) and connectivity (e.g. SQL queries and stored procedures)
- Integrate with Web APIs and REST services
- Skill in allocating storage capacity in the design of data management systems.
- Generate views, queries, and reports to facilitate the production of security metrics and reporting
- Perform database maintenance tasks (i.e., backup, restore, delete data, transaction log files, etc.).
- Use automation to perform routine - repetitive tasks.
**Qualifications**:
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities-Qualifications:
- 2+ years' experience performing data analytics or data management as part of security programs.
- Experience working with analytical data, large data sets and data models.
- A working knowledge of good information security practice is desirable but not critical.
- Experience using Python for data transformation and task automation.
- Experience with AWS Glue, Athena, AWS RDS, MS SWL and Cloud Native Data Management preferable.
- Understanding of common BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Excel
- Working knowledge of ITIL incident management, service-level management, change management, release management, continuity management, and availability management for databases and data management systems.
- Ability to follow data management standards, requirements, and specifications.
- Experience writing system or process documentation.
- Monitor and maintain data automation routines to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage the compilation, indexing, cataloguing, caching, distribution, and retrieval of data.
- Maintain operations data integrity and data quality
- Follow configuration and change management processes.
- Perform clean-up activities to remove unused or legacy schema elements, database logic or data.
