**Scrum Master**
Scrum has a clearly defined set of roles and rituals that should be followed. The Scrum Master works with each member of the team to guide and coach them through the scrum framework. They facilitate scrum workflows, ensuring that members of the team follow through on their respective duties and responsibilities. The Scrum Master must have strong coaching and servant leadership skills to help teams handle work efforts. They help drive business value and results working with the product owner and the team. The Scrum Master is critical in helping mature the team to be self-directing and motivated to continue delivering high results and expectations.
**Key Job Functions and Responsibilities of a Scrum Master**
- Guide and coach, the team on how to use agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
- Ensure scrum is understood by the team and the team adheres to scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
- Aid in estimation of work and task and sub-task creation. Protect the team from scope creep, over commitment of work, and ensure achievable sprint goals are set.
- Facilitate and support all scrum events to include but not limited to: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
- Ensure that the Jira boards are kept up to date, organized, and all tickets have points and details; ensure the board is well managed and reflects the reality of the work.
- Track sprint metrics, determine what metrics make the most sense to track for each unique scrum team, and provide detailed reports. Work with leadership to implement changes to the scrum team based on metrics reporting, to ensure projects remain on track.
- Assist the Product Owner in refining the Product Backlog and keeping the backlog well groomed; utilize information gathered from the team to provide context to tickets and priority needs.
- Remove impediments and mentor the scrum team on removing impediments.
- Lead the scrum team in self-organization.
- Contribute to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
- Work proactively to predict and minimize potential issues before they arise.
**Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Three (3) years or more of experience as a Scrum Master for software development projects.
- Strong Knowledge of agile, rules and practices to include Kanban, Scrum and SAFe.
- Hands-on experience with Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence) or comparable Agile suite.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to lead multiple scrum teams simultaneously.
- Experience in eLearning industry preferred.
- Experience with SAAS platform a plus.
