**Summary of the position**Provide advanced engineering expertise in support of a broad scope of activities in a medical device manufacturing environment. Function as technical lead and adviser for developing, implementing, and improving production systems related to different type of materials processing and assembly. Interface with R&D on product introductions and improvements, from concept to launch. Recommend, plan, and execute projects requiring extensive manufacturing or specific technical expertise. Lead cross-functional teams on key plant initiatives.**Essential Functions**- Communicate and coordinate project activities with multiple functional groups.- Specify, procure, install, and debug production machinery or processes. Assure compliance to safety, ergonomic, and validation requirements.- Serve as team lead for the plant on product launch and improvement initiatives.- Create, modify and approve production procedures and other documentation within the appropriate change control system.- Formulate and execute experiments, test plans, and validation activities. Collect and analyze data. Generate protocols and reports.- Assist with selection and qualification of new materials and suppliers.- Provide technical advice, leadership, and expertise on advanced projects related to process development and improvement. Supervise engineers or technicians as assigned.- Provide insightful technical advice, leadership, and expertise on advanced quality improvement and cost reduction projects.**Responsibilities**- Comply with statutory responsibility under the national or federal regulations such as taking reasonable care of his or her own safety, health and welfare and of any other persons who may be affected by his or her acts or omissions at work.- Follow established EHS procedures and policies.- Encourage coworkers to follow EHS procedures.- Participate in employee engagement activities such as EHS inspections and EHS meetings- Report EHS incidents and hazards, assist in root cause analysis as appropriate, and cooperate in finding solutions or implementing improvement.- Complete required EHS training.**Roles**- Require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.- Stop work in the event of contractors or other employees performing work that may lead to a serious injury or environmental incident.- Refuse to carry out an activity that jeopardizes the health of your own or staff and the building or facilities.- Refuse to perform operations/activities in which you are not trained or feel that your integrity is at risk.**Requirements**:- Education - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Eng. Materials Eng, Manufacturing Engineering or related field, or equivalent certifications and experience. Master's desirable.- Experience - More than 3 years, preferably in medical device manufacturing and applicable engineering experience, preferably in a highly regulated industry.- Advanced English language technical writing and verbal communication.- Record of project leadership, cost reduction, and quality improvement in production processes.- Strong competence with personal computer software for data analysis and project management.- Six Sigma Tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, Project Management,- Presentations, and demonstrated leadership on projects of broad scope.- Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies.- GMPS and process validation experience.- Demonstrated project management skills.- Driven by results, shown significant accomplishments.- Self-directed with the ability to develop, facilitate and gain consensus in a team environment.- Effective communication skills.- Ability to adapt to evolving projects requirements.- Problem solving skills.- Supervision of direct reports.- Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and integrity when making decisions.- Dealing with ambiguity, creativity, customer focus, timely decision making, decision quality, function/technical skills, innovation management, intellectual horsepower, learning on the fly, listening, managing and measuring work, organizing, perseverance, planning, presentation skills, priority setting, managing through systems, technical learning, total work systems (lean/six sigma), and written communications.- Cardinal Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
