**About the opportunity**
Wind River Systems is seeking a Product Owner to be the member of the Agile Team who is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the team and ensuring that the Team Backlog is aligned with customer and stakeholder needs. As part of the Engineering organization embedded within the development team, and also functioning as an extension of the Product Management team, the Product Owner is the team's primary customer advocate and primary link to Product Management and Technology strategy, enabling the team to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while continuously evolving the product.
**Who you will work with**:
You will join a highly skilled engineering team delivering internal and external products and technologies across a complete DevSecOps platform, pioneering many new industry-leading capabilities. This is a new senior role that will interact closely with globally-distributed cloud platform developers, user interface developers, data engineers, data scientists, architects, and stakeholders across various groups in Engineering. We commonly use swarming to help the team learn more quickly and get things done while enjoying it. You will also collaborate cross-functionally with product line managers, sales, professional services, technologists, and customer-facing teams. You will report to the Engineering Director responsible for serving this team.
**What you'll do / your responsibilities**
- Demonstrate accountability for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the agile team in alignment with the broader Product Management strategy and roadmap. Engage in day-to-day activities with the team to provide feedback early and often.
- Manage the Team Backlog effectively. This includes, and is not limited to, collaborating with the team on: developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal and Sprint Goal for the sprint; creating and clearly communicating Team Backlog items for the agile team; ordering Team Backlog items; and ensuring that the Team Backlog is transparent, visible and understood.
- Perform Team Backlog Management in collaboration with Engineering Domain Owners, Product Managers, Architects, internal stakeholders, customer representatives, and the Agile Team to formulate, create and clearly communicate Team Backlog items. Anticipate their needs, have a conversation, and collaboratively translate the needs into backlog items.
- Effectively break down the product requirements into mínimal marketable, demonstratable / testable backlog items by defining and negotiating the acceptance criteria with the development team. Prioritize and order user stories and ensure work aligns with product strategy and technical dependencies.
- Maintain a healthy Team Backlog that exhibits DEEP (Detailed appropriately, Estimated, Emergent, and Prioritized) characteristics. Anchor the practice of Definition of Ready.
- Act as a bridge between Product Management, Business and Engineering Agile Teams. Remove barriers between stakeholders and Teams. Help teams execute on a shared vision.
- Practice scrum events in both spirit and letter. Provide continuous, constructive feedback to the agile team during the sprint and in Sprint Review and Demo. Promptly accept / reject the deliverables from the agile team in alignment with the Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done. Participate in the team retrospectives.
- Be the advocate of Customer / Product Management for the Engineering teams and be the advocate of Engineering teams for Product
