**A Day in the Life**
At our Finance Department in Medtronic, Plc, we focus on providing timely, relevant, and actionable information to drive the strategic direction of the company. This role will support all aspects of financial management, including expense analysis, month-end/quarter-end close, reporting & presenting results, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), capital expenditure requests, forecasting and the annual strategic plan.
As a Cost Accountant you are directly involved in compliance in key areas of finance including
a) Working with all departments to understand costing requirements for existing and new products
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares reports of findings and recommendations, compiles and consolidates financial plans and provides insights to management.
- Develops, maintains, and establishes operational specifications for financial information systems considering such things as information flow, volume, ad hoc reporting, and analysis.
- May provide analysis on business development and may monitor business performance by unit, division or group.
- Driving and contributing to integration project initiatives, fostering seamless collaboration and efficient implementation,
- Allocates costs, collects data, and prepares reports that maintain the company's cost accounting system.
- Ensures that costs are allocated according to established procedures.
- Gathers historical cost data on such activities as material purchases, labor, equipment depreciation, repairs, assembly, operating expenses, etc.
- Investigates cost structures for new and existing areas of the company.
- Prices new services or products by developing unit costs and projecting expenses.
- Prepares reports that compare budgets with actual expenses.
- Ensuring compliance for legal entity areas including financial audit, tax reporting, periodic statistical reporting etc.
- Maintaining adequate internal control framework to enforce company policies,
- Identifying local process improvement initiatives and implement them in liaison with the central teams to ensure finance operations efficiency and effectiveness.
- Supporting business with ad-hoc projects.
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree required in Finance, Administration Administration or related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5+ years relevant experience.
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs (Forecast Accuracy, Bias, Forecast Value Add, Market Share, R&Os).
- Advanced English - Strong written and verbal communication skills English with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and PowerBI).
- Srong manufacturing Standard Costing experience with the ability to roll, set & forecast Standard Costs on the ERP system.
- Good planning, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and meet due dates for tasks in your area
**Nice to Have**
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including both the ability to identify key trends and drivers and proven experience translating financial data into meaningful, concise information.
- Demonstrated ability and success working with mínimal supervision, including flexibility to changing priorities in a proactive and self-motivated manner.
- Excellent knowledge of SAP and advanced Excel.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing environments (preferably in electronics or medical Device).
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with SAP or other similar ERP systems.
- Familiarity with UK financial and taxation regulations.
- Strong results orientation and bias for action, including a high degree of initiative in understanding business needs,
- Flexible, friendly, team-oriented disposition that thrives in a fast-paced environment,
- Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate financial data into concise information for management.
