Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams and oversee technical IT aspects of related activities.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Support, monitor, and take care of existing configuration changes for Palo Alto Networks.
Act as a point of escalation for network engineers and provide input for them to take action on.
Consult with network users to define system requirements and deliver firewall policies, and security postures which meet the demands of business requirements.
Superb communication skills, including the ability to write network and security documentation
Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
Replace faulty network hardware components when required.
Implement new, approved network topologies and technologies in alignment with the strategic direction set by the IT leadership.
Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls including App-ID, user-ID, content-ID and Global Protect in a cloud implementation, IPsec VPNs, Security Profiles, Device Groups, and Templates.
Knowledge of Palo Alto firewall CLI commands and troubleshooting from the CLI
Understanding of firewall implementations in cloud providers like AWS, Azure
Implement and run enterprise networking solutions with high reliability and availability
Provide firewall expertise to team members, and follow best practices expertise
Lead the evaluation and recommendation of new product and/or service offerings, and serve as a technical lead on implementation including performing vendor management functions
Resolve problems by performing root cause analysis and developing and lead the implementation of corrective and preventative actions
Provide technical expertise and business requirements gathering sessions through interfacing with members of the business.
Author device, network and/or systems diagrams, including configuration parameters
Provide training, coaching and knowledge transfer to team members
Provide support and troubleshooting of issues/incidents
**Education and Experience**:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field required.
6 years' experience in one of the following three areas, as appropriate for the position: IT Infrastructure Network, IT Infrastructure System, and Firewall Engineer
**Additional Skills**:
Advanced knowledge of firewall standard methodologies (CIS, NIST, etc)
Advanced knowledge of cloud architecture build-out, and the differences between a cloud deployment and physical deployment
Experience with multi-tier architectures, including standard methodologies of network isolation
Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting firewall issues, including cloud based VPNs (Prisma)
Experience crafting and deploying network solutions in enterprises environments
Experience in managing a global environment of greater than 50 firewalls with a diverse set of security requirements
Experience in large corporate network rollout and support
Good time management skills, with an ability to work on a number of projects and tasks concurrently
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
Ability to analyze network packet traces (PCAP) and understand how the captured data relates to a specific issue or problem
Understanding of firewall architectures with routing protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.
Experience in the healthcare industry preferred
Experience publishing professional documentation as related to specific network projects
Level 2 and Level 3 trouble shooting, and analysis is required
