**Objective**This role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with the company's values, goals and business priorities in patient advocacy. The Patient Advocacy Manager for Rare or Uncommon Diseases must develop and execute initiatives that promote the company's relationship, engagement and commitment with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) and regional PAGs´networks working on the issue of rare/ uncommon diseases across Central American and the Caribbean.This role will support the delivery of the AstraZeneca business strategy through impactful engagement with PAGs and regional PAGs´networks working on the issue of rare/ uncommon diseases and other relevant key stakeholders. The role will be accountable for the development and execution of the work strategy together with PAGs, promoting, building, and improving alliances for key strategic issues and other actors relevant to the health ecosystem.The role will support all aspects of the patient journey, including speeding time to diagnosis, disease education and resources, advances in treatment, and supporting caregivers to improve health outcomes for patients diagnosed with rare/uncommon diseases. In addition, it will promote changes in public policies that put the patient at the center of the scene.**TYPICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**- Develop and execute the strategy and patient advocacy support plans, aligning to the global strategy with local priorities and objectives, in collaboration with Business Units as required.- Establish meaningful long-term relationships and build a sense of community and collaboration between these groups and AstraZeneca.- Drive, build, and enhance strategic alliances and partnerships with relevant organizations representing patients, both disease-specific groups and other partner organizations. Analyze and guarantee the progress of these projects sponsored by AstraZeneca.- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of Awareness Campaigns in collaboration with PAGs.- Partner with therapeutic area leaders, medical managers, and brand teams to ensure that the view of the patients is always seamlessly integrated into brands' plans, from early planning through execution.- Build on and contribute to local launch plans and their implementation, ensuring that the patient perspective remains central to our strategies.- Appropriately link patient groups with the information and resources needed to help patients and caregivers access appropriate care.- Work together with the Government Affairs and Access Teams, to support the development of public policies that allow continuing to improve access to health, innovation, and the importance of optimal treatment, while promoting the recognition of patients and patient advocacy groups as equal stakeholders in healthcare decisions.- Stay up to date on new developments and ideas in the field of patient advocacy and incorporate them into program development and delivery.- Manage the respective budget and coordinate related tasks.- Ensure that all activities are aligned with AstraZeneca's internal and external policies.**Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience***- This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong team working capabilities, flexibility, and preferable knowledge on the pharma and public health industry and rare diseases.- Degree in careers related to the field of health, public relations, communications, or similar.- Experience in similar positions, associated with patient support, including rare/uncommon diseases (desirable).- Fluent in English.- Extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and health system at the local level.- Solid knowledge of the patient advocacy ecosystem at the local and regional levels.- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects from conception to completion.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Strategic and Global Companies´ mindset.- Ability to collaborate across functions and hierarchies.- Exceptional influencing skills to build strategic external relationships.
