The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Operator / Laundry.
Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of functions including fabrication, assembly or testing in the production of electrical, mechanical, or other components/devices manufactured or assembled in a clean-room environment. Operates appropriate equipment in performing the functions. Assists in setting up work stations and follows written or verbal process specifications in completing all assignments.
This role will be a full-time position base out of Heredia, CRI.
What we're looking for
- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Experience: 1-2 years as operator experience, preferred.
- 1 year as Laundry Operator in VWR, preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a cleanroom environment, preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.
- Ability to be trained on and adhere to all cleanroom protocols.
- Ability to understand and follow site protocols, policies and procedures.
- Must be flexible, forward
- thinking, motivated, and can act independently.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs minimum.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Problem-solving skills.
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Leads and assigns the routine tasks to the shift team assigned.
- Checks daily inspection sheet and reports any issue to the Laundry Leader.
- Follow the laundry SOP´S, safety and security policies and procedures.
- With the Leader, ensures all laundry requests are completed in the appropriate time.
- Maintain accurate records of items laundered.
- Complete the particulate and ESD tests and deliver the results to the Team Lead.
- Communicate in advance to the Leader, any inconvenience to meet the delivery time to customers.
- Maintains traceability of items that need repairs.
- Responsible for keeping accurate records of items washed and delivered to Warehouse.
- Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Log damaged items and communicate to the Leader, accordingly to the procedure.
- Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to the type of item, dirt content, and cleaning technique required.
- Count and load items into washers and driers.
- Start washers and driers, turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, and other additives.
- Remove stains manually if they remain after the washing cycle.
- Sort and count articles removed from dryers, fold and pack them.
- Supports and oversight to new associates as well as current associates on SOPs and general workplace policies / Procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Typically works in a production/clean room environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift/carry/push or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement operating foots controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
