Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a disease area expert for inline and pipeline scientific discussions and data dissemination. The purpose of position is to interact with external stakeholders disseminating the scientific knowledge of Pfizer's products and about respective disease, reports high quality Data Facts and Observations (DFOs) and brings strategic scientifically valuable insights to Medical Affairs and contributing to business strategies. Is responsible to identify data generation needs and to execute external medical initiatives and stakeholder engagement through scientific discussions. Is the main liaison between external and internal stakeholders.
Participate and interact with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) in local, regional, national and international scientific meetings.
MSL has close collaboration with Medical Manager/Medical Leads and other in-countries stakeholders in order to develop strategic partnerships aligned with medical needs to maintain a therapeutic leadership position.
Ensure that all activities are not misleading and in compliant with global and local Pfizer procedures and local regulations under the ethical and scientific point of view. MSL is the scientific expert for the products under his/her direct responsibility and work in strong alignment with Local and Regional Medical Category Leads within the concept of category teams and under "Community of Medical" mindset.
MAIN REPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
Main responsibilities are:
- Provide accurate and balanced scientific information on Pfizer Innovative portfolio / disease area, focusing on pre
launch (6 months before launch), and post launch phase (till 1 year) as well as of competitors and related diseases, meeting medical and scientific needs expressed by external stakeholders.
- With more than 90% dedicated to external activities, act as External Ambassador for disease area mainly with Tier 1, Tier 2 HCPs, Clinical sites and investigators or any other external stakeholder ad hoc basis and in alignment with Medical Lead.
- Share internally the insights from the customers, identify opportunities for collaboration to improve patient care and contribute to medical strategy.
- Coordinate the technical aspects related to scientific events (non-promotional or promotional) based on MA01 policy guidance, electing and training the speakers and assuring the ethics and scientific correctness of the provided information.
- Cultivate research and therapeutic area expertise, including familiarity with latest congress data and disease state literature
Other responsibilities
- Provide accurate scientific information on Pfizer products, as well as of competitors and related diseases (including
clinical trials results), to the healthcare professionals meeting medical and scientific needs expressed by Medical
Class (Scientific Societies, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
- Interact with HCPs and other customers to help Pfizer meets medical and research goals. Manage the relationship
between the Company with the Medical Class, ensuring the scientific support to KOLs, Advisory Boards members,
speakers, etc.
- Disseminate the knowledge of Pfizer's products, including products in the pipeline, when properly requested by
healthcare professionals and approved by Medical Director assuring MA01 policy requirements;
- Collaborating with internal knowledge dissemination of relevant aspects of products and related diseases.
- Map and develop opinion leaders in area of expertise;
- Actively engage with Medical Class and develop partnerships and collaborations;
- Communicate all competitive intelligence information to the company responsible professional;
- Keeping him/herself updated with the literature of related therapeutic area and identify possible gaps in
knowledge among the company's products and its competitors;
- Provide training and specific support for specialized centers and institutions, if applicable and under MA01 rules.

Internal: Close collaboration with Medical Manager, Medical Leads, External Partnership Medical.
Other in-countries internal stakeholders on ad hoc basis (PHI, Clinical Research, Commercial) for strategic initiatives such as insights sharing; special projects management, etc.
External: Tier 1, Tier 2 HCPs, Clinical sites and investigators or any other external stakeholder ad hoc basis and in alignment with Medical Lead.
