**Job Description**:
The Indirect Tax Audit Specialist ("Audit Specialist") plays a key coordination and administrative role in respect to internal and external indirect tax audits.
The Audit Specialist will support and take direction from the Indirect Tax Team in the preparation and execution of all internal and external audits, including audits initiated by tax authorities, external corporate auditors, and 3M internal auditors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Before Audit (Audit Readiness)
- Have working knowledge of current country-specific audit trends and requirements.
Periodically review and report any discrepancy in current processes to Indirect Tax Team.
- Provide sampling review of invoices and report results to APL, GSC Tax Leader and Indirect Tax.
Provide follow up with different contacts to bring issues to resolution.
- Provide sampling review of VAT Tax Returns and report results to GSC Tax Team and Indirect Tax Team.
- Ensure audit packages are properly archived in tax portal/or alternative repository in alignment with Indirect Tax Team guidelines by country basis.
Audit Packages may vary across countries depending of local law.
Develop and deliver audit package readiness reports to the Indirect Tax Team.
- Work with Indirect Tax Team to deploy a protocol of communication/expectations across functional areas (internal SLAs, or equivalent) to clearly identify key contacts by area as well as expectations in time response.
- Under the supervision of Indirect Tax Team and Tax Technology Team, partner with relevant business groups to ensure required supporting documents are produced and preserved for audit purposes.
- Support indirect tax reverse audits.
- Other audit readiness work as deemed necessary from time to time.
During Audit: (Audit Response/Agility)
- Work under the supervision of the Indirect Tax Team regarding the tracking, coordination, workflow, and management of audit information requests and associated deadlines.
Work as primary point of contact for data and documentation collection and workflow coordination for the Indirect Tax Team.
- Collect data from tax repositories and additional information/data not included in tax packages from other functional teams (following audit communication protocol) by deadline.
- Review, prepare, and submit data and documentation for Indirect Tax Team review, including data reconciliations and quantifications as required for tax audits.
Resolve discrepancies and finalize data as directed by Indirect Tax Team.
- Provide information to Indirect Tax Team by deadline.
- Store audit information in designated audit repository.
- Translate documents as needed.
- Other audit support work as may be required by the Indirect Tax Team.
After Audit (Enhancements/Changes)
- Support Indirect Tax Team to document the audit findings, highlight processes that must change to mitigate future tax risk, and help facilitate discussions with cross-functional teams to design and implement respective changes with assigned contacts (APL, GSC Tax Leader, RTR, Imports, etc.).
- Deliver training to GSC Tax Team as to specific tax audit checks to ensure data quality.
- Ensure Tax Audits SOPs/Job Aids are up to date.
- Ensure audit documentation is appropriately archived consistent with document retention policies.
- Other post-audit work as deemed necessary from time to time.
Basic Qualifications:

- A minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in Indirect Tax.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills preferred
- Degree in Finance/Accounting/Law (BA or equivalent).
Course content to include direct/ indirect tax.
- Experience in shared service center and/or accounting/audit/consultancy firm is an advantage.
- Follows a variety of generally defined procedures under general guidance within disciplines of Indirect tax.
- Works independently and output is occasionally reviewed while in progress.
Knowledge and skills:

- Working knowledge of Accounting and Tax Audit principles and practices as they related to the position.
- Good business and financial acumen.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally on technical matters.
- Ability to build collaboration within different teams and work groups.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of theories/concepts and practices of Indirect Tax, particularly VAT/GST.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Alteryx and other data analytics and collaboration tools is an advantage.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and initiative and be able to work with mínimal supervision.
