**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The GL & Cash Apps Lead reports to the RTR Manager.
The purpose of this position is ensuring that the financial & statutory statements are correctly prepared for local and US GAAP purposes.
Also, will oversee the completion, operational excellence and quality of General Accounting and Cash Application.
This role is responsible for the monthly, quarterly and year end closing of all ledgers and financial statements in accordance to company policy; and delivery of requested or required statutory or company specific reports; organizing and training accounting staff; monitor compliance to all local regulations and US-GAAP standards of accounting entries; also drive standardization and continuous improvement of processes.
This position supervises two / three local employees in the Costa Rica Shared Services Site.
**PRIMARY DUTIES**:
- Lead, develop and manage GL and Cash Application Team to meet monthly, quarterly and annual accounting, reporting, & objectives
- Manage recruitment activities, manage performance problems, coach and mentor employees, complete required HR processes
- Ensure that all Financial Statements give a true and fair view of the company's business, in compliance with USGAAP, local Statutory GAAP and HB Fuller internal policies and procedures
- Ensure development and maintenance of accounting and financial controls to ensure accuracy, transparency, compliance, and effectiveness
- Ensure that the balance sheets are correctly stated, understand what the entries to the accounts and have adequate supporting documentation to justify the balances
- Prepare and approve all associated balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and approve journal entries as required
- Support the resolution of issues / areas of concern within reconciliations & within accounting processes
- Perform FX exposure balance sheet analysis
- Expenses and balance sheet accounts variance analysis
- Support internal, external and statutory audit requirements
- Ensure deep understanding and compliance of HBF policies across the team and with relevant colleagues and stakeholders
- Develop and maintain SOX and other compliance obligations.
Drive for efficient, effective, accountable execution
- Support the timely reporting of key financial information, monitor the performance and quality of the activities performed based on agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives in the organization, achieving identified goals (financial, process or talent)
- Perform other related duties as assigned in addition to the above-mentioned tasks, other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined by the RTR Manager
**EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED**:
Two/Three resources in GFS Costa Rica (Accountant Assistants: GL and Cash Apps)
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
- Degree in Accounting (Business Administration)
- 4-6 years' experience of accounting related experience.
Experience leading accounting teams is a plus.
- IFRS deep knowledge
- ERP System experience - SAP Finance module
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Portuguese is highly desired.
- Knowledge of SOX, compliance and internal controls related with Financial Reporting
- Demonstrated leadership skills including talent and high-performance team development and people management skills
- Experience working in multinational companies and ideally within a Share Service Center
- Continuous improvement skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills, customer management skills, analytical, change management
- Accountability for Results - Translates goals/objectives into actionable plans and results and delivers to those plans
