**The Opportunity**
This position works out of our Costa Rica - Alajuela location in the Electrophysiology Division. In Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) business, we're advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
As the Environmental Health Safety Specialist III, you will be responsible for the implementation and
sustaining of all EHS programs according to local and external regulations. The resource must also be aligned with all regulations established by Abbott on the previously mentioned scopes.
**What You'll Do**
- Formulate, implement, manage and improve ALL programs related with the Environmental, Health and Safety Scopes.
- Provide support in the completion of documentation and reports (reporting, documentation, metrics on both verbal and written forms) required by the local and Federal regulatory agencies on the EHS Scopes.
- Responsible of establishing and maintaining of all EHS programs.
- Investigate EHS incidents and their prevention.
- Interface with the corporation to achieve necessary EHS goals and ensure site complies with local legislation.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with all EHS permits and licenses required for Abbott site operations.
**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Occupational Health, EHS Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental management.
- 3-5+ years' experience developing EHS policies and procedures in Occupational Health, Safety and ergonomics areas and assuring their alignment with governmental regulations.
- Experience with emergency response, life safety and the proper handling of biological and industrial waste materials.
- Use PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets, and/or Microsoft Project.
- Must have knowledge in OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, INTECO and ISO 14001; ISO 50001 Standards.
- Intermediate English/ Spanish language.
**Preferred Qualifications**
Preferable experience in medical industry, clean room environment, brigade management, incident and investigation skill.
Knowledge in continuous improvement.
