The Data Management Specialist orchestrates the complex data supply chain by which Experian collects and compiles the sources of data that drive our products and solutions. They have an understanding of the details of our data and products to ensure that our data assets are clean, enhanced, organized and ready to deliver. Data Management Specialist design and implement our data ingestion pipelines and drive improvements to quality while adhering to standard processes and procedures. They may work with third-party vendors or contributors of data and consult with provider relationship specialists or internal sales operations teams to understand data issues and escalate exceptions with a focus on maintaining a seamless process flow.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Monitors the daily production environment to ensure timely completion of batch jobs.
- Provides client support for the import and export of data files from supported platforms. Researches and resolves media and data issues. Works with internal departments and external clients in a variety of functional areas to coordinate issue resolution.
- Updates communication and procedure logs.
- Makes appropriate data loading decisions.
- Maintains data file quality and currency.
- Generates reports as needed to maintain file accuracy.
- Performs file maintenance and quality verification checks.
- Establishes and tracks quality control functions and procedures.
- Analyzes new data for accuracy and compliance.
- Works with technical personnel to resolve data quality issues.
- May provide requirements for the development of custom production programs to meet client needs.
- May set up utility JCL jobs to process data on the mainframe.
**Qualifications**:
- Between 0 and 2 years of experience in information technology industry with a focus in data management, data cleanup or similar activities and/or responsibilities.
- Basic oral and written communication skills.
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Basic PC and mainframe skills.
- Proven passion for the data quality discipline.
- Extremely meticulous and attentive to detail with high levels of concentration in approach to work with a strong drive for results.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to meet established deadlines.
- Objective, creative, and diplomatic team player.
- Good multi-tasking skills and ability to manage varying priorities.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
**Preferred **Tech**nical Skills**:
- Data storage, integration, ETL design and build skills using tools such as IBM Infosphere, Informatica, Pentaho, Talend, DB2, Hadoop.
- Planning and collaboration skills using tools such as Atlassian Confluence, Trello, Jira, Microsoft Teams.
- Data manipulation & visualization skills using tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, JSON, Hive
- Feedback and issue management skills using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Service Now.
- Knowledge of managed file transfer, enterprise file synch-and-share protocols and encryption methods in on-premise, cloud and big data environments is beneficial.
