- This position will report to the General Ledger Team Leader and will be accountable for all accounting matters of the legal entity incl. preparation of statutory and USGAAP financial statements and oversight of all other reporting activities incl. legal entity forecast.
- The role includes performing month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries as required and support to other finance and tax Colleagues with proper determination of accounting entries per the company policies and procedures
- Chief Accountant will also assist in auditing activities by providing all necessary information required by auditors and will act as a first point of contact in terms of accounting matters.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting across the legal entity operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the legal entity forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in line with local and US GAAP
- Manage and comply with all local reporting requirements
- Coordinate and support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities including completion of sub-ledger postings, reconciliations, posting to GL, Fixed Assets, AP, AR, Inventory and Cash accounting
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Support GL Team Leader and R2R Manager to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Coordinate and support the execution of activities related to internal and external audit requirements
- Provide periodic internal and external reports and support ad hoc data request from management or markets
- Ensure robust compliance environment with SOX, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures
- Experience, Skills, Knowledge:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance / Accounting. CPA preferred.
- Very good knowledge, insight, and experience in financial accounting USGAAP, IFRS, local GAAP principles
- Proven 5+ years of working experience in similar role
- Customer focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to leverage and build on ERP skills to ensure operational excellence and service quality
- Good computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) and hands on experience with SAP
- Previous experience working in large multinational firm or Animal Health / Pharmaceutical industry (preferred, not required).
- Fluent English & Portuguese: reading, oral and writing skills.
