Job Summary:
**Amentum** is seeking a dedicated, energetic, motivated** Buyer** to help support our growing business.
The **Buyer** is responsible for procurement of materials, components, supplies and/or services for the company in accordance with Procurement procedures, contract requirements and federal acquisition regulations.
Essential Responsibilites include:

- Establishes source of supply, negotiates price, delivery date, and other necessary commitments based upon authorized requisition and complies with company policies and federal regulations.
- Provides guidance and information to requester that includes communication of procurement actions or status and assist with special or complex requirements.
- Adheres to Procurement procedures to assure follow-up and administration of purchase order and subcontract files.
Coordinates requisition requirements with requester.
- Assists in the preparation of Procurement centered reports.
- Contacts suppliers, secures bids, and executes purchase orders in accordance with DI procedures
- Reviews purchase requisitions and executes purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Negotiate price, delivery, and terms with approved prospective suppliers.
- Maintains procurement records in accordance with procedures.
- Supports the goals and objectives of the company as a part of a work group or team member as assigned.
- Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, and losses, return of materials, over-shipments, and cancellations.
- Provides pricing in support of Business Development or proposal efforts as required.
- May require site visits in support of establishment of new or existing suppliers.
- Interfaces with Procurement leadership.
to provide status, input, and communicates with other departments.
- Responsible for compliance of procurement procedures in maintaining an approved Purchasing system.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- This position may require a valid Driver's License.
- This position does not include sponsorship for work authorization.
- This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client's location.
- This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or Business Administration from four-year college university.
Two (2) years of relevant experience above that which is required for the role may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college.
- Two (2) years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate with suppliers.
Physical Requirements:

- Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
- Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
- Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
- Requires ability to attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other Amentum, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
- Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
- Requires some moving of light to medium weight materials into desks, filing cabinets and other storage locations.
- Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
- This position may require a valid Driver's License.
- Special Requirements:

- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
- Familiarity with facilities equipment descriptors such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
- Experience working in purchasing or subcontracting in a manufacturing, maintenance, or a related service field.
- Experience with CMMS.
- Experience overseeing storeroom operations.
- Experience streamlining and improving inventory practices.
Other Attributes:

- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
- May be required to work holidays and weekends.
