**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with project manager, contractors, and other stakeholders to establish project budgets and financial goals.
- Develop detailed budgets for construction projects, considering all relevant costs, such as materials, equipment, permits, subcontractor fees, etc.
- Monitor project expenses and track actual costs against budgeted amounts throughout the construction process.
- Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas where expenditures can be optimized.
- Review and approve project-related invoices, purchase orders, and change orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Conduct regular cost analyses and provide accurate and timely financial reports to the Project Manager.
- Identify and communicate budget variances, potential risks, and deviations from the original budget, recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project teams to forecast and plan future expenses, taking into account project milestones and timelines.
- Liaise with accounting and finance departments to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to construction projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, construction costs, and regulatory requirements related to construction budgeting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as budget controller in a construction company is a must.
- Solid understanding of construction processes, tenders, costs, and industry-specific financial metrics.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and cost estimation techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex financial data.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Professional fluency in English is essential, both written and verbal.
- Valid B1 Driver's license is required.
- Occasional travel required (locally in Costa Rica).
