This internally facing role provides preliminary data analysis in the form component analytical work which support ratings, research, analytical outreach and presentations, under the guidance of the Team Manager.
The Associate role contributes to the success of the Ratings & Research Support (RRS) team, by providing a range of support services that contributes to the overall credit analysis function performed by RRS and Ratings & Research (R&R).
This role will focus primarily on supporting the Financial Institutions Group (FIG), dedicated to rating banks, insurance and asset management companies; while there is potential for cross-training in supporting varying asset classes and methodologies, as part of career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary credit analysis to support ratings, research, analytical outreach and presentations, following guidance provided by D&A Manager.
Examples include:
Analyze financial data and statements provided by other teams within Moody's to perform the preliminary analysis.
- Support credit monitoring/surveillance of issuers by e.g.
preparing data for surveillance, periodically updating preliminary components of analysis, and initiating/escalating deeper credit reviews when necessary.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and identify key analytical factors in support of RRS credit analysis, under full supervision and guidance from the D&A Manager.
Perform certain routine administrative and other ad hoc credit-related tasks as directed by D&A Manager.
- Provide support and be a resource to other Associates as a backup, under overall supervision of D&A Manager.
- Interpret and analyze financial data provided by Financial Data Analysts (FDAs) group.
- Minimum undergraduate/ first level degree (e.g.
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualifications) in Economics, Finance or Accounting.
- Preferably some relevant experience, particularly in non-financial corporate companies.
- Solid Accounting background, with strong focus in financial analysis (e.g., through coursework, or relevant work experience).
- Intermediate skill level with MS Excel and knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint.
- Solid verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Written and spoken fluency in English is required; Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.
