MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
Perform qualitative and quantitative testing of various chemicals and materials to support routine manufacturing and engineering projects.
The individual will be responsible of: laboratory inventory stock of supplies, instrument maintenance and assist Scientist in method development and validations among others.
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Perform tests or processes required to monitor chemicals, solutions and raw materials for the manufacturing operation.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and testing of raw materials
- Support evaluation and upgrade of laboratory procedures.
- Maintain working knowledge and understanding of USP, FDA, ISO, and any other regulatory standards applicable to chemical testing and validation.
- Promote safety and ensure a safe work environment and safe work habits.
- Use and maintain highly advanced scientific instrumentation in the Analytical Laboratory (e. g. high pressure liquid chromatographer, ion chromatographer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy).
- Provide support to the manufacturing site in the areas of analytical testing and review.
- Carry out assigned tasks such as laboratory experiments and testing of raw materials and solutions.
- Conduct OOS investigations guided by the lab Scientist or Supervisor.
- Ensure accuracy of notebooks and spreadsheets in accordance to the appropriate standards.
- Review test results and other pertinent documentation.
- Support development, validation and implementation of test methods for laboratory equipment.
- Support training of other laboratory technicians on instrumentation, test procedures, software analysis programs, and laboratory standards.
- Ensure correct documentation on Analytical Laboratory testing.
Maintain all required laboratory record.
- Perform wet chemistry testing to support incoming chemicals/materials per USP methodologies.
- Perform and support testing for routine manufacturing and internal product manufacturing investigations using analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, FT-IR, IC, TOC and others in high throughput environment.
- Follow written test method procedures to execute routine laboratory tests in GMP environment.
- Follow ABBOTT Quality Policy by adhering to documented Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure chemical inventory is well stocked.
- Ordering lab supplies, chemicals/SRM standards and equipment spares.
- Communicate effectively with management and other team members/internal customers.
- Participate in continuous improvement (Lean Principles) of laboratory testing and development.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of analytical techniques/instrumentation, lab instrument software's and troubleshooting skills.
- Assist scientists with method development and validation activities.
- Support training of other laboratory technicians on instrumentation, test procedures, software analysis programs and laboratory standards.
- Communicate testing status/issues with requestors and support for summiting samples to the lab (test request).
- Participate on troubleshooting activities altogether with lab Scientist or Lab Supervisor.
Review and approve test results and other pertinent documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree or related field with 2-4 years demonstrated experience, Chemical laboratory technician, chemistry.
Experience
At least 3 years of experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain safety in the work place
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and use of basic lab equipment such as ph meter, analytical balance, HPLC, among others.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and analytical test methods.
- Experience with routine laboratory/wet chemistry work and analytical instrumentation through educational background or relevant industry experience.
