This position will support the daily import/export compliance and operational activities at key markets in Latin America commercial or manufacturing locations. It's critical to AbbVie that we ensure adherence with laws, improve operational efficiency and facilitate the reduction of tariff and non-tariff barriers at all our locations.
Key responsibilities include supporting the site's daily import/export transactions, coordination of activities with the customs broker, communicating, as necessary, with in-country Customs Authorities and other relevant Government Agencies, providing trade guidance to local AbbVie business personnel, and assisting on audits related to AbbVie's trade activity.

Assist in ensuring that all import/export transactions are in compliance with in-country
Customs Law.

Interface with AbbVie affiliates and suppliers to ensure their understanding of Trade Compliance documentation requirements for key markets countries. Provide guidance to local AbbVie businesses on import & export requirements and/or documentation (tariff classification, customs valuation, and/or country of origin determination).

Support activities related to customs requests for information and post-entry review of
documentation. This activity is related to imports and exports.

Support the import permit processing through Customs Systems, such as but not limited to: SIMI (Sistema.
Integral de Monitoreo de Importaciones), TICA in Costa Rica, VUCE in Costa Rica, Colombia, México, etc., Among other systems.

Assist in the development of solutions impacting trade and provide knowledge sharing to
improve operational performance and ensure compliance with importing/exporting
regulations.

Support the updating and oversight of trade data for key markets (i.e., tariff code, country of
origin) and work with the AbbVie GTC leadership to monitor the system in which they are
maintained in order to support strategic projects focused on enhancing our capabilities by leveraging preferential duty management programs.

Communicate directly with the site's customs brokers and forwarders to resolve day-to-day issues that result in border delays.

Assist in the capturing and analyzing of metrics associated with trade operations for reporting up to the site and the Global Trade Compliance leadership.

Assist in the execution of the self-audit program to ensure continued compliance with customs law and internal policies.

Guarantee the fulfillment of the EHS corporate and legal requirements by complying with internal policies and procedures. Likewise, guarantee fulfillment through adopting strategies, internal controls, communication, and necessary trainings.

Continually improve EHS results through leadership, commitment, and active participation in all EHS-related initiatives.

Education and Experience
- Proficient in English, spoken and written.
- Bachelor's or Technical degree in a related field (e.g., international trade, supply chain, logistics, customs, foreign trade, or business administration
- Two (2) years of experience working in trade compliance, broker's agency, or multinational company or consulting firm.
- Computer Skills. Must have excellent ability in managing Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Knowledge of Foreign Trade Law, Customs Law, Tariff Codes, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with countries in Latam Markets like Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, México, and Costa Rica.
- **Strong communication skills in speaking and writing in English and Spanish are a must. (A1)**:
