The Accounting Manager works under the direction of their immediate manager to ensure accurate financial statements and ensure all deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards.
Monthly accounting for Moody's Corporate accounting activities with a focus on accounting for internal-use software, Fixed Assets, depreciation and amortization entries, as well as balance sheet reconciliations and expense analytics.
- Provide strong leadership to the corporate accounting team, collaborating effectively in a dynamically changing environment and maintain strong oversight on accounting activities performed by Moody's/Accenture BPO partnership to ensure deliverables are consistent with Moody's policies and GAAP.
- Strong desire to keep up with advancements in technology and innovations occurring across the digital, analytics and CFO ecosystems.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine accounting transactions
- Proactively performs ad-hoc account analyses and raises issues on a timely basis
- Identify, research, and resolve operational accounting issues through regular and special analysis to ensure proper accounting.
- Review and prepare supporting documentation and account analyses for internal and external audits; manages audit relationships and acts as principle point of contact with respect to areas while ensuring efficiency and timeliness.
- Research and document complex U.S. GAAP transactions that relate to Moody's and provide recommendations and analysis to senior management on the accounting for these transactions
- Actively pursue effective and efficient accounting operation of respective areas and across Moody's while ensuring the effectiveness and adherence to accounting controls
- Maintain Moody's accounting policies and ensure timely compliance with the US GAAP accounting guidance, provide accounting interpretation, and prepare technical accounting memo as needed.
- Review and sign-off on Blackline account reconciliations ensuring the accurate representation of Moody's financial statement account balances and adherence to the Company's global balance sheet reconciliation policy
- Degree in Accounting and CPA is a plus
- 5-6 years accounting experience (preferably with a major US CPA firm) or a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of ASC 350
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Power BI and/or Alteryx a plus.
- Proficiency with SAP S/4 Hanna, ERP (Hyperion), SAP Fiori is a plus
- Experience with Blackline Task and Reconciliation module is strongly preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of SEC reporting requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
