The **Accounting Associate** performs a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and banking tasks. Accounting Clerk responsibilities include assembling daily deposits, making General Ledger postings, and performing basic accounting tasks.
This is an excellent entry-level role for someone who wants to grow his or her career in accounting and finance. Detail-oriented with exemplary organizational skills. Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team. Must consistently demonstrate the highest level of professionalism.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Supports the month and quarter-end tasks activities in a timely and accurate manner working together with the Team Lead/Supervisor.
- Executes and analyzes day-to-day activities
- Performs the balance sheet reconciliations (low/medium risk accounts), providing analysis and issue resolution for possible discrepancies and irregularities, taking ownership of the action plans to escalate it to key internal stakeholders.
- Ensure the financial records/statements are maintained in compliance with the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as International Finance Reporting Standards (IFRS) as needed, following the Lonza internal policies and procedures.
- Support other areas of the business and when required. This could include supporting day-to-day to other functional areas within GBSO.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Key requirements**:
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Recent graduate with an associate or bachelor's in accounting or Finance Degree.
- Accounting Technical degree is a minimum requirement.
- CPA will be ideal.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, HFM).
- Intermediate Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, SUMIFS).
