Ib Physics Teacher, San José, Costa Rica

Blue Valley School is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced IB Physics teacher.

Position Summary:

Enables the success of student academic achievement through the implementation of the curriculum and philosophy. Also to have an oversight role for all students within the school setting, to ensure a safe academic environment conducive to learning and maintain a professional image for BVS.

Main Responsibilities:

- Teaching all areas of the Physics or Science curriculum.
- Contribute to maintain our premium academic standards by providing exemplary behavior and practices with all members of our community.
- Carry out standard teaching duties (curriculum development, planning, assessing, preparation of course materials such as syllabi and handouts, etc.).
- Provide a creative and knowledgeable environment inside the classroom in order to achieve high levels of critical thinking using an extensive variety of instructional strategies that intellectually engages and challenges our students.
- Maintain complete records of student progress in their learning process through distinct accurate types of assessments (formative and summative).
- Planning, preparing and presenting differentiated lessons that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within their class.
- Communicate with families providing valuable feedback concerning the student’s academic progress or conduct.
- Working collaboratively through support and collaboration with colleagues to plan and coordinate interdisciplinary activities.
- Organizing and participating in school events, outings and activities.
- Undertake special assignments, ad-hoc functions and related duties as and when required.

Minimum Requirements:

- BA in Physics, Science or equivalent.
- Two year(s) of relevant teaching experience in schools (preferred).
- Teaching certification (preferred).
- IB Physics Certified (preferred)
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exhibits self-motivation, high work standards and attention to detail
